fond memories of his native louisiana helped shape much of designer billy reid’s s/s 2011 collection. it’s classic with a strong sense of nostalgia, but also as laid-back as southern drawl parlance, making many items suitable for both formal and leisure occasions. to accentuate the creative vibe, the designer recently presented the collection at new york’s milk studios in a set design inspired by clarence john laughlin, one of america’s first surrealist photographers. shown below is a series of looks that we particularly like.billy reid’s s/s 2011 collection is available at the brand’s six flagship stores and at select shops across the u.s.a., including detour [milwaukee], moda [pittsburgh] and khaki & black [madison / ct].
